Author Crystal Ash #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Crystal Ash

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hi, I’m Crystal Ash! I’m a writer from Northern California. I live with my husband and cat in a pretty quiet suburb. When I’m not writing, my hobbies range from beer making to growing carnivorous plants, hah. My interests are all over the place but generally I’m a quiet homebody who likes hanging out on my own or with those closest to me.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Not always as a profession, but writing has always been an interest of mine. My dad’s a writer too, so I’m sure some of it is inherited. I started reading voraciously at a young age and journaling after seeing my dad do it. I wrote my first fiction in my early teens and blogged about various topics into adulthood.

As far as jobs go, I’ve been a lifeguard, a photographer, a sandwich artist, a bar manager, and so on. It’s been a long, winding road to having author as a career path, but I don’t think I’d have it any other way!

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Honestly, the mistreatment of animals is what inspired me to write Harem of Freaks. I love writing shifters because I love exploring the similarities we share with other animals. The instinct to protect our offspring and loved ones, the desire for a mate, etc. I’m a huge animal lover, as you can tell! To me, nothing is more heart-wrenching than how some animals are mistreated, especially in circus and some zoo situations. What’s even worse is seeing those you love treated in the same way, so this has been a VERY emotional series for me.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently working on Curtain Call, the final Harem of Freaks book. Once that’s done, I’ll be wrapping up my story for the Fated Mates boxed set, which releases in early June. I’ll have a couple of short stories for special projects coming out in the meantime as well!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

After several attempts, I’ve realized I can’t write in coffee shops like many authors do. I get distracted because I’m too much of a people watcher! I also obsessively track my word counts in several places (notepad, calendar, Pacemaker app, Discord server…). Yeah, wow. Didn’t even realize it was that many!

What are your hopes for the future?

I love traveling, so I hope to attend book signings locally and abroad to meet readers in person. I’m going to my first book convention later this year, Literary Love Savannah, and I’m tentatively planning for 2020 as well!

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Don’t be too hard on yourself and definitely don’t compare yourself to others! Always be willing to learn, grow, and experiment.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

I love you! You have literally made my dreams come true and I’ll keep writing the books you love for as long as I can! My readers move me every day and I’m so lucky to have them.

Author Ripley Prosperina #Interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Ripley Prosperina

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I live in Vermont and the winters are long, it gets dark at 4:00 in the afternoon for about three months, so I have a lot of time to think. I can’t decide which genre I like the most, so I write in all of them, usually with a reverse harem twist.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have! And I even minored in English, but I always viewed it as more than a hobby. It wasn’t until I had a few years of writing under my belt that I decided to give publishing a try!

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

My current series is about a changeling, and my inspiration came from two places, the folktale of Aswaga, from the Philippines, and Slavic folklore about rusalka…they’re sort of like sirens.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on the second to last book of my Searchers series. It’s a new adult, dark contemporary reverse harem.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I love making playlists of songs I think my characters would listen to. I also have a word count I have to hit before I let myself be done for the day.

What are your hopes for the future?

I want people to read my books!! I want them to love them and look forward to them, and seek them out. Also- world peace.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Keep writing, and look into the business side of writing. I didn’t realize when I started how important marketing and social networking is. I thought I could write a book, press publish, and everyone would see it. HAHA. Nope.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

I’m so grateful you read my books. I love hearing from you, so feel free to message me or follow me!

Author Serena Akeroyd #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Serena Akeroyd

Tell us a bit about yourself

Gah, I’m always useless with these questions because I’m utterly boring. 
The best thing about me is that I have a weird ass imagination, several muses who keep me awake at night, the best mom in the world–seriously, she still does my laundry ;)–and then the best pooch too! His name is Trever, and he’s a little monster!

Have you always wanted to become an author?

No, actually. LOL. I wanted to be a teacher, then I realized I’m not that great with kids so it would be a crappy choice of career for me. When I was about 16, life shifted, and around about this time, I discovered romance books. I’d always been into crime and the classics before then, and ta-da, I discovered Harlequin. From there, I just knew I wanted to write romance. I’ve been working toward that goal ever since.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

This is really hard to answer because I have around 8 active series at any one time. The book I’m working on today is inspired by a whole host of things. I have a love for mafia romance and this book is founded in that world. It’s smutty and sexy and filthy and I’m in love with my hero!

What are you working on now?

So, it’s the aforementioned book, and it’s the second part of the duet. It’s titled SCREW ME, haha, abrupt and to the point, no? 😉 Finn is like that, though. 😀 He’s nasssty but in the BEST way! 😀

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Ugh, I’m very unhealthy when I’m writing and that’s all the time so that means I’m unhealthy all the time! I’m trying to get back into yoga but my sleep schedule is all over the place, too. I’m trying to develop healthier quirks. LOL. But it’s easier said than done when I’m in the middle of yin yoga and I’m trying to focus on my breathing when all my brain is doing is thinking about the next scene I have to write.

What are your hopes for the future?

This is surprisingly difficult for me to answer. My hopes are to carry on writing books that people love to read. I would love for more people to be aware of them, and generally, just to have a bigger fan base so that I never have to do anything other than write and live this crazy life of mine. I would also, nuts as it seems, love to see one of my books become a TV series or something. I know that’s a MAHOOSIVE goal, but I’d be so curious as to how someone else could convey my story to the screen. 😀

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

To trust your voice. Don’t worry if you don’t do things the ‘normal’ way. So, to me, writing is like a sport. You have to train. This week, I wrote 84,000 words. A number that blows my own mind! I didn’t know I could even do that, but this story has flowed so well and I’m loving every minute of writing it. It’s only do-able though because I’ve trained. I do sprints and I’m constantly working on writing better and faster. If you can’t write every day, just set a word count goal. Push your limits because, to my mind, the story that comes out is intense!

Also, invest in editors. Always. Never publish anything that hasn’t been touched by at least two other people.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

Only that I love you. 😀 Seriously. All these stories that are stored in my head are allowed to come to life because of you guys, so thank you ♡

Author Nikki Bopp #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Nikki Bopp

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hello, my name is Nikki and I am a single mother to one adorable little girl. I work days at a job I love and I now work nights writing all the fantastical things that run through my head. I am a huge fan of supernatural and all things book related.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have wanted to become an author since I started to really get into reading in middle school. I wrote a lot of poetry and fanfiction and honestly had never even thought of sharing it with someone else until becoming involved with a couple authors in a group on Facebook. They inspired me to try and that was enough for me

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

The inspiration for my current series was the fact that I was sick and tired of reading about werewolves and dragons. As much as I adore them, I felt like someone needed to write the little guys story. And what’s the opposite of a dragon? A mouse.

What are you working on now?

Right now I am currently finishing up the second book in my Shifter Tails series.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I dont know that I have any quirks but it has to be completely silent and I have to type with my legs crisscross applesauce.

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future are to continue writing of course. I would really love to expand my reader base and maybe get to do a couple signings so I can actually meet the fans that message me. This isn’t about money or fame, it’s about sharing my stories with everyone else and experiencing the thrill of a riveting book.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Advice? Do it. Even if you think you cant, that you’re not good enough or that you are afraid of failure. You may fail but we can only learn from failure. Take criticism with a light heart. It is meant to help you, not bring you down. Grow from it and learn.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

Thank you! For every single page, you make my heart so incredibly happy. I am nowhere near where I would like to be but you make it all worth it.

Author Lana Kole #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Lana Kole

Tell us a bit about yourself:

I’m a cat lady, through and through, although I will never turn down an eager-to-be-pet dog. I live with three cats and pay the mortgage of their house. If you own a cat you’ll recognize how true that statement is. I work a full time job on top of writing, as well as house sit for two families who travel often, rarely leaving me any spare time. Writing in the evenings double as kitty cuddle times, because they have to make up for it somewhere, right?

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Writing has always been a hobby of mine, but I never expected it to get this far. In school, English and Reading classes were my forte, whereas Math, Science, and History fell to the wayside. Five paragraph essays? Easy. But ask me to balance a chemical equation… Nah.

Vivid dreams have always woken me up in the middle of the night, and I’d roll over bleary eyed to take notes while half asleep. When I woke, I would expand and write more on the little scenes I was able to cram into the notes on my phone, but never truly finished any of the stories.

Finding the RH community was eye opening. I saw how down to earth these authors were, and once I recognized how accessible KDP was to the average person, I decided to put my mind to it and finally finish something I started. Three books later, and I still feel like a poser amongst all these established authors.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I’ve always adored anything magical and mysterious, and I have quite the attachment to witches. Pair that with my love of cats, plus a snippet of a single line I had in my head, and you have the Crystal Clear Series.

What are you working on now?

I just finished the Valentine’s Day stand alone, which released on the 12th of February. Next on my list is Crystal Clear Book Three, which I’m hoping to announce a release day for some time soon. As much as I adore Maya and her kitties, I’ve missed Mori and the guys and can’t wait to hear them talk to me again.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I do this really weird thing where I rock back and forth in pace to what I’m writing. When a friend visited and we were watching a cooking show, she pointed it out to me and since that night I’ve realized I do it when I’m stuck on a word or even in a really nice sentence or scene flow. I think it helps me keep an even pace.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to finish the Crystal Clear Series and start on building a new world. I have a couple of open projects that I have not been able to focus on because Mori and her guys demand all of my attention.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

“Fans” is such a weird word that makes me squirm. Do I have those? Lol, honestly I just love being tagged in ALL the cat videos that grace my timeline daily. It makes me so happy that I come to mind when people see a cute little kitty doing something silly. My author group is my favorite place to visit because I adore talking to every single person in there, no matter what it’s about. I can’t put into words how tickled I get when people want to talk to me. There’s an image that floats around from time to time, a cartoon about an author replying to a reader and the reaction of both sides. Something about ‘oh my gosh, they acknowledged my existence’, and the other being ‘oh my gosh, they think I’m important,’ and I can agree that’s accurate.

Author Trina Bates #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Trina Bates

Tell us a bit about yourself.

A little about myself? I’m from Washington state but now live in Texas with the hubs, three amazing little boys, three cats, and three dogs… I guess I have something with the number 3 lol.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I started writing in high school but nothing ever really came of it. I got hooked again when I was in my mid-twenties and was reading nonstop YA (Haha shhh). I couldn’t stop the ideas! So I started writing them down as plot lines. The stories took years to come still.

My first series, The Hollows Awakening. It’s the first in the, Beyond the Veil series, and was a really daunting task to get through. I thought originally it would be like 12 books. Alas, it will only be four. I keep getting blocked and finding I’m wanting to write more characters and leave the ‘Mira’ shenanigans alone lol. So you got a lot about me lol, sorry!

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I actually had none! I knew I wanted a Valkyrie and RH (Reverse Harem) but the rest wasn’t there for me. I just sat down and started writing! The rest came with time and I think it worked out well!

What are you working on now?

Too many books! I have 2 offshoot series that are ‘Beyond the Veil Telling’ and an entirely new series that has, Centaurs, Immortals and other beings I hope you all enjoy!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I don’t! I don’t think? Haha. I just write to suit me and enjoy the time spent, as much as I can.

What are your hopes for the future?

I just want to write for people and put out stories that others can relate to and enthrall themselves in. That’s really about it.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

So much! Okay: Never give up! It doesn’t matter if it’s the first chapter or hearing bad reviews, DO NOT GIVE UP. There might be 100 terrible reviews, but a single one that loved it. That’s what matters. It really is. Get the right editors, get a wonderful street team, I.E. editor, graphic designer, ARC team, BETA team and honest people that will help. Get the information about where you are going to publish well before you do it. DO NOT put anything up for pre-order unless you know it is done! And have fun! Don’t let the things I’ve said above bring you down. It will and you don’t need that. Your stories need to be read! Kepp with it and don’t give up.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

I so do… You are all so amazing and the only reason I am still writing today is because of you. I love to hear that you enjoy my stories and want more. It keeps me going and makes me smile on the bad days when I want to quit!

Author Nora Ash #interview

Please give a warm welcome to fellow Dane and author Nora Ash

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m a 34 Dane who fell in love with a Brit and moved to England nearly a decade ago. I have two cats, because my mean fiancé refuses to let me give in to my cat hoarding tendencies, and if I ever win the lottery I’m moving us all into the Swedish forests and getting at least five horses.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Yes. I used to write thousands of pages in secret, just for myself. But I never thought I’d actually get to fulfil my dream, so I went to university for a super serious Business degree, and even did Masters. It never felt right, though. I was never happy. While I finished my Bachelor, I started writing fan fiction, and the amount of joy I got out of that process eventually made me realize that I needed to change my life. I’ll forever be thankful to the kind readers on fanfiction.net who encouraged me to publish my own work.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I usually jump between series, so I’m just going to talk about my latest release, Ragnarök Rising.
Because of my Scandi roots, I’ve grown up with the stories from Norse mythology as part of everyday life. Roads and landmarks were named after gods and Jotunns, my high school was located in a town known for its Viking museum, and my favorite comics as a kid followed Thor’s human servants as they ventured through Asgard and beyond. (The Valhalla comics by Peter Madsen)
Because of this, I’ve always felt deeply connected to Norse mythology, and I knew I wanted to write a story about them. But because Thor’s already married according to the mythology, I couldn’t really round him and the other gods up and give them a new girlfriend! So, their sons were up instead.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on a continuation to my very first serial, Demon’s Mark. It’s called Prince of Demons, and it’s about a girl who can see demons for what they are, and a deal she makes to save her brother. Also, there’s lots of magic, filthy sex and general mayhem, of course!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

No, but my cats do. If I’m working, they insist on sitting on my keyboard. Never when I’m just faffing around on the internet. I had to put a box on my desk to distract them from their evil scheme.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope I can keep writing forever. We’re currently looking at buying our first home, and the mortgage people asked me when I plan to retire. The answer is never. I never want to retire, because putting stories into the world brings me so much joy.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Don’t measure yourself after anyone else’s goals. Sometimes we forget the sheer magic of what we’re doing, sometimes it doesn’t seem enough to just be happy. Remember what made you start writing to begin with, and nurture that flame in your gut every moment of every day.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

It’s so hard to put into words everything I want to say to the readers who support me, who buy my books, who are as excited about the stories I create as I am. You mean the world to me. Sometimes you send me an email to tell me a bit about yourself, or how you loved one of my books, and sometimes I’m swamped and stressed out, and I don’t always reply, but I read every one. And I am so, so thankful.

Nora’s Naughty Corner

Debut Author Rowan Thalia #Interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Rowan Thalia

Tell us a bit about yourself

First,I am a newbie author of RH Paranormal and soon to be Post Apocalyptic books. I have two series rapid releasing back to back starting on Valentine’s day!

I am also a mom of two small humans, a wife and a teacher of fourth and fifth grade. I spend lots of time with kiddos, so my writing is my outlet and portal to the adult world. Basically, my writing keeps me sane and keeps “bad mommy” at bay.

When I am not wearing one of those hats, I love to read and camp. Reading while camping, even better (just add wine)! I am addicted to bad jokes and coffee with lots of creamer. My roots are in New Orleans, southern grown to the core, but I now reside in Washington state with my family.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have always been a voracious reader, I never felt like there were enough books in my life. The library was my favorite place to be as a kid, I don’t think I really understood that I could be a writer until I was a teen, and at that point I wanted to be one with everything that I was. I started with poetry and short stories when I was fifteen. In college, I continued writing poetry and published a few in the school newspaper as well as some small anthologies from poetry.com. My first attempt at a novel started in my thirties, I actually cannibalized the ghost stories and setting from that first manuscript to write my debut novel, Binding Rayne.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I have always been fascinated by the paranormal. Ghost stories around a candle at night, scary movies, and of course books on the supernatural. When I sat down to write my first series, I combined my love for all things spooky with my newfound obsession with the RH movement to bring what I hope is something unique to the genre, some good old fashion spook! My second series, is a combination of my fixation with vampires and doomsday prophesies. I love combining things in a new way to create interesting stories.

What are you working on now?

I just wrapped up and submitted the third book for my first series, The Keepers of the Talisman. The series is three books in length, for now, and will be releasing from Feb-Apr of 2019! I am also in the middle of two other books. One, Renegades at war, is the second book of my Soldiers of Blood and Ruin series. Book one has already been submitted for editing. This series follows a former soldier in the new colony war as she navigates life after the BioWar. She is inundated with conspiracies, chemical warfare, fighting zombies and learning to find her new place among the new race of vampires. The second project is a co-write with one of my best author buddies, Jarica James. This one is going to be epic! It is titled In the Shadows, and it features a gothy college photography major and her friends/love interests who encounter something dark in an old abandoned part of their dorm. Both projects are action packed and super steamy RH books. I am so excited to get them all out in the big world!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Interesting question, my immediate response is no, I just write. But then upon reflection, I do keep a google spreadsheet of every trait for my characters now, I learned that I need to document everything the hard way. I also have a journal that I scribble in, I showed it to my husband and he said it looks like something someone wrote while possessed.. So there’s that.

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes are to break out as an author and be able to teach part time, while writing. I would also love to cross genres and write a full on horror book, but I don’t know if I am ready to leave romance to the side just yet. Watch out people, I am shooting for the stars!

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Join author groups. Read all of the things that you can get your hands on on the topic of writing and using great descriptions. Find two to four betas that you love and keep them! When you feel like you can’t write, read!

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

My fans? My book isn’t published yet, but I know my beta and a few ARC readers might see this so… I love you! There is nothing better in the world than having someone dive into the world you created and come out stunned. Positive feedback is so rewarding. But you know, constructive criticism is important too – I want all of it. My goal is to grow as a write every day, help me! I can’t wait for you all to meet Rayne, Rox, and Jun. My first three main characters all hold small traits of my own and they feel like a part of me. Follow me, I want to hear all of your responses! I will try my very best to respond! Most of all, thank you for giving me the chance to entertain you by reading my books!

Author Jarica James #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Jarica James

Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Jarica, I’m a stay at home mom of two fun and crazy boys. I have a degree in Psychology. I’m an avid reader, gamer and music lover. Bright colors, nature and dogs make me happy. I’m a coffee addict and stay up way too late writing and reading, because I get lost in these worlds so easily.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

When I would get really stressed out in college, writing was my escape. I had around sixty percent of a YA novel written, but once I graduated I kind of forgot about it. Then when I had my second son and had been staying home with the kids for a few years, I really felt like I was losing a piece of my identity from putting so much of myself into my family. So writing once again became my escape in finding my identity again, my ideal ‘me time’. For Mother’s day my husband bought me a laptop and I wrote. When I had two books written I decided to take that leap and publish. The RH community has been beyond amazing and made me feel like my worlds were worthwhile. Now I love sharing them!

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I’ve always loved paranormal books, and I had read a few that mentioned reapers, but they weren’t the main focus. So I thought about it and slowly started creating my reaper world. Once it started, I had a dream about the portals and the idea grew even more. I finally sat down and plotted it and the rest is history.

What are you working on now?

My book, Realm of Shadows comes out on February, 16th and is my current project I’m immersed in. It has been so much fun to write, especially since it ended up way off of my outlined plans, and is so much better for it. I can’t wait for readers to get this one. There’s plenty of action, twists and turns, Steamy scenes and fun.

I’m also working on a few other projects right now. My St. Patrick’s day co-write is in the editing stage along with Realm of Shadows. I’m also working on a Reverse Harem Horror book with an author friend and I can’t wait to tell everyone about it. I’m also working on the final book in my Fae Knights Series! I have a few more projects planned for this year, but Fae Knights and the Master Reapers series are priority!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

When writing, I’m the opposite of most people and have to have some level of noise. Whether that’s hopping on discord and chatting with other authors or listening to music. Silence makes me lose focus faster than anything. I’m a multi-tasker at heart.

What are your hopes for the future?

My hope is to be able to turn my ebooks into paperbacks and go to conventions. I love this community so much and I’d love to meet all of the other authors and fangirl a little… okay, a lot! Plus all of the readers have been so fun and supportive! I think it would be a lot of fun!

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Find an author group! My author friends have been the most supportive people in this process. We chat, exchange ideas, help each other out with our stories, and even learn how to do new things, like photoshop. We build each other up and make sure everyone succeeds, and I can’t imagine doing without them.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

That question alone seems so crazy to me! I never imagined when I started that I would be able to reach as many people as I have. So I have to say THANK YOU! Thank you for supporting me and reading my books. Nothing makes my author heart happier than when someone messages me to discuss a character or plot point. It’s such an amazing feeling to know someone else was able to get a glimpse into the world you created and enjoyed it enough to want to chat about it. Our readers are amazing and I’m so grateful for them and their support and kindness! I love you guys!
